MSAA Esports

 

Fall Tournament 2025  |  Saturday December 13, 2025 @ Endicott College

 

All Semi-Final and Final matches will be held in the Callahan Center, using either the Esports Lab or lower Callahan Room.

Equipment
Endicott College Esports will supply all computers for Rocket League.  Super Smash semi-finals will be played on TV’s or computer monitors, also supplied by Endicott.  Super Smash finals will be played on the large TV in lower Callahan or if any latency issues, played on computer monitors.  For Mario Kart, Endicott will supply computer monitors in the Esports Lab.

** For all players, please bring any peripherals and wires/connectors you wish to use.  For all Switch players, please bring a Switch for each of your players as well as any extra cables (HDMI) for each player to connect to monitors.  Additionally for Switch games, it would be helpful for all players and schools to bring wired internet LAN adapters for each player.  We will have some additional but please help by bringing what you can.

Format for all games
•    Rocket League will be Best of 7
•    Super Smash will be a series of Best-of-3 games in a Best-of-5 sets. The team to achieve two set wins will be awarded the championship.
•    Mario Kart will be Best-of-6 races in a Best-of-3 sets.  The team to achieve two set wins will be awarded the championship.

Parking
CLICK HERE for a parking map. The Callahan Center is identified with the gold star.  Parking for school minibuses is in Lot 3.  Cars can park in other areas on the map.

Concessions
There are a few areas in the Callahan Center with vending machines.  Also, there is a Gull and Go at Venuti Hall within a very short walk with additional concessions.  Please plan to bring money and/or debit card to access these concessions.

Semi-Final Viewing
•    Semi-Final matches will not be projected to the lower Callahan TV for spectator viewing
•    Rocket League semi-finals will take place in the Esports Lab.  With four teams and 12 computers playing simultaneously in the Lab, spectator viewing will not be possible.  The Lab will accommodate the coaches and players and possibly a few other teammates.  Please plan accordingly.
•    Super Smash semi’s being held in lower Callahan (two different areas) can be viewed over the shoulders of the players while the competitors are playing.
•    Mario Kart semi’s will be like RL semi-finals (above) but with only two teams playing at one time (staggered times, see above), there may be more space for other teammates in the Lab.  Spectator viewing in the Lab will not be possible for Mario Kart semi-finals.

Finals Viewing/Fans
Fans will be able to watch finals in the lower Callahan center. The finals for all three finals competitions will be projected to the large TV in lower Callahan for viewing.

Esports in Massachusetts

The MSAA has partnered with PlayVS to bring esports to high schools throughout Massachusetts. Esports, or competive gaming, is the fastest-growing high school sport in the country and, much like traditional sports, requires teamwork, critical thinking, and communication to achieve success. However, esports goes ever further to create a barrier-breaking, all-inclusive environment with a strong sense of community. All games are selected based on their competitiveness and strategy and are rated E for Everyone.

General Team Information

Each school is required to have an esports coach who is onsite for all matches. Esports teams are all inclusive and can vary across skill, age and gender. Each student needs the following: one computer/laptop and one set of peripherals (mouse, keyboard, headset). Students can use their own, or schools could provide these. Jerseys are optional. Official competition rules and gameplay settings will be sent at a later date.

  • 2 GHz processor (supporting SSE2 instruction set or higher)
  • 1 GB RAM (2 GB of RAM for Windows Vista and newer)
  • 8 GB available hard disk space
  • Shader version 2.0 capable video card
  • Screen resolutions up to 1920×1200
  • Support for DirectX v9.0c or better
  • Windows XP (Service Pack 3 ONLY), Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10

Recommended Specs

  • 3 GHz processor
  • 2 GB of RAM (4 GB of RAM for Windows Vista and higher)
  • 12 GB available hard disk space
  • Nvidia GeForce 8800/AMD Radeon HD 5670 or equivalent video card (Dedicated GPU with 512MB or higher Video Memory(VRAM))
  • Support for DirectX v9.0c or better.
  • Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7, Windows 8.1, or Windows 10 with the latest service pack installed
  • The latest update to .NET Framework from Microsoft
