Pause, Breathe, Teach: Helping Students (and Yourself!) Stay Regulated

When students struggle with self-regulation, it can throw off the entire classroom dynamic-and let’s be honest, some days it’s hard to stay regulated yourself!

This workshop is designed to help educators bring mindfulness into their teaching in a way that’s simple, practical, and effective. Mindfulness isn’t just about sitting still and meditating; it’s about using small, powerful moments throughout the day to reset, refocus, and create a calmer learning environment. Discover tools to help your students transition between tasks, manage big emotions, and build self-awareness; all while improving focus and engagement.

But mindfulness isn’t just for students-it’s for you, too. Explore self-regulation strategies that help you manage stress, stay calm under pressure, and respond to challenges with greater patience and clarity. By understanding how mindfulness supports brain development, emotional regulation, and overall well-being, you’ll feel more confident incorporating it into your classroom culture.

Participants will:

·     Gain a clear understanding of how mindfulness supports brain development, self-regulation, and overall well-being

·      Acquire practical tools to make mindfulness accessible, engaging, and developmentally appropriate for students of all ages

·      Identify the key benefits of mindfulness for fostering emotional regulation, enhancing focus, and reducing stress in both students and educators

·      Learn and practice simple mindfulness techniques, including breathing exercises, grounding strategies, and movement-based mindfulness

·      Explore ways to seamlessly incorporate mindfulness into daily classroom routines without disrupting instructional time
