MSAA Professional Development Workshop for School Administrators

Lights! Camera! Action! Setting the Stage for a Positive Climate and Culture in Our Schools

The school year can often be like a performance.
Turning on the lights, getting the camera ready, and putting all your plans into action is a carefully thought-out process for building leaders that involves important consideration of the climate and culture of your school community. One way to do that is to set a theme for the year that is directly connected to school goals, staff feedback, and continuous emphasis on belonging, teamwork, and collaboration. This session will include practical examples and activities from themes that supported different schools in strengthening their climate, culture, and values as teams.
Join us as we brighten the lights, focus the camera, and learn action steps of planning meaningful, connected, and engaging thematic school years.

Participants will:

·         Distinguish between school culture and climate, and assess their own community's needs

·         Develop strategies for creating an annual school theme based on values, data, staff input, and school culture

·         Identify and share methods for fostering belonging and inclusivity amongst school team members

·         Generate theme ideas that address the current needs of school staff, families, and students
