Fostering a Culture that Includes ALL Students Through Co-Teaching 
What are the Necessary Components to be Successful?  

This workshop will focus on delivering service to all students in a supportive setting, creating an understanding of the best practices for leading and teaching in a co-taught environment. While reviewing the key elements to successful co-teaching model, you as a school/district will review the six approaches to co-teaching, common language and the strategies for instruction that support the DESE teacher rubric focusing on Standard II…Teaching ALL Students.

This workshop will provide all participants with the tools necessary to return to school with a plan for implementation.

Participants will develop an understanding of:

·        The essential role and responsibilities of administrators’ in successfully implementing co-teaching models

·        Key components needed to implement and restructure a co-teaching model within their school or district

·        How to develop a common language around co-teaching for their entire school or district

·        The six distinct approaches to co-teaching

·        The specific roles and responsibilities of each professional in a co-teaching classroom

·         How to align co-teaching lesson plans with Standard II – "Teaching All Students"

Shannon L. Pirrello | Seaside Educational Consultants 

Shannon has been a Seaside Consultant for over six years, and she brings to the Seaside family a strong belief in the benefits of equitable education, and the importance of effective differentiation practices in the classroom. Before making the switch to teaching kindergarten, Shannon taught as the lead teacher in an Autism classroom for early elementary-aged students. She holds her Autism Specialist Certification from Salem State University, as well as a Master’s degree from Boston College in Severe Special Needs. Her undergraduate degree in Elementary Education and Human Development is also from Boston College.

Shannon worked as a Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) trainer to facilitate positive behavioral support in and out of the classrooms. She has taught Assistive Technology courses at Curry College, highlighting the way in which many of these technologies can be used to benefit a wide range of learners. Shannon brings her experience and passion from the special and general education worlds to help facilitate effective inclusive classrooms.
